TECHNOFIT INFORYOU : COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT AND DECARBONIZATION

To reduce environmental footprint in the coming years, Combined Cycle Power Plant(CCPP) might be what the future seeks of. Since its introduction to the industry decades ago, CCPP has helped overcome numbers of industrial concern and promotes decarbonization. In a research by US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA, CCPP release 20% to 40% less CO2 compared to other power plants.

The transparency in reducing carbon waste is inevitably promising. In CCPP, a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) helps boast a high thermal efficiency and produces minimal carbon emissions. The heat is recovered in the form of steam which is served as the power source of a power-generating steam turbine.

Meanwhile, Once Through Heat Recovery Steam Generator (OTSG) in CCPP helps reduces water inventory and eliminates the need for circulation pumps, as well as chemical cleaning. Installation is also simplified. Both generators become main utility in CCPP to practice decarbonization in industrial practice.

Multiple projects under development around the world and in Malaysia are now specifying Combined Cycle Power Plants. The increase interest represents a notable shift from past projects and an indicative of commitment in decarbonization and generating sustainability.
