TECHNOFIT EXPLORES NEW BIOMASS POWER INVESTMENTS IN VIETNAM
TECHNOFIT recently engaged with the Can Tho City People’s Committee (Vietnam) to propose the development of a 10MW Hau Giang Rice Husk Biomass Power Plant.
The project aligns with Vietnam’s clean energy roadmap under Power Development Plan VIII, utilizing rice husk, wood chips, and other biomass sources to reduce emissions while supporting sustainable agriculture.
This initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
1. SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
2. SDG 13: Climate Action
Local authorities welcomed the proposal, noting the strong raw material potential from Can Tho’s 718,000 ha annual rice cultivation. The project also qualifies for maximum investment incentives as it is located in a socio-economic priority zone.
As highlighted by Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho, Can Tho City is currently focusing on implementing the contents of the Power Development Plan VIII, with an emphasis on developing renewable energy sources such as biomass, waste-to-energy, and solar power. Attracting foreign investment projects like TECHNOFIT’s proposal is considered a crucial solution to supplement the power supply and support Vietnam’s commitments to net emission reduction and environmental protection.
This collaboration also reflects the importance of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening cross-border cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam in advancing green energy transitions.
TECHNOFIT is also exploring a second renewable energy initiative — the 25MW Soc Trang Biomass Power Plant (Dai Ngai). These proposed projects further reinforce TECHNOFIT’s commitment to delivering sustainable, resilient, and future-ready energy solutions for the Mekong Delta region.
